The Mesa Hotline School has many training programs and certifications that allow our students to continually update and expand their knowledge.  Below is a list of current programs and school dates offered by Mesa Hotline School.

Journeyman Certification Test
May 1, 2008 - 8am

The Journeyman Certification test is only administered twice a year.  This 8 hour test will prepare and certify you for your occupation as a journeyman or lineman.  The first four hours of this test is written, followed by the last 4 hours of oral examination.  To apply for this test you must have your company approve the test and have 8,500 hours of work in the field.  Learn More

Class Descriptions

Mesa County Drug Task Force

This class will focus on the growing danger of meth labs in our service territories.  Students will learn how to spot potential meth labs and the potential dangers of meth labs to employees.

 

Transformer Connections

Jeff Wilson will go over the basic theory of how transformers work and then move into three phase connections.  A transformer board will be available for students to work on.

 

Safety Round Table

Rex Fockler will train front line employees how to utilize root cause analysis to assist in accident investigations.

 

Serviceman Trouble Shooting

Two journeyman linemen will discuss methods, tools, tricks, and what to look for when troubleshooting outages.

 

Grounding for Personal Protection

Current techniques and theories on temporary grounding of electric line for protection of personnel.

 

High Voltage Demo

Mountain View Electric Association will have their high voltage trailer available and will discuss the dangers of working on high voltage power lines.

 

Burn Presentation

Two utility employees will discuss their electric burns and how it has affected their family and their careers.

 

Roper Splicing

Students will learn rope splicing techniques.

 

Recloser Trouble Shooting and Maintenance

This class will teach students basic trouble shooting techniques to be used on OCR’s in the field.  Basic maintenance of OCR’s will also be discussed.

 

Underground Power Cable Do’s and Don’ts

Current techniques on how to properly handle, pull, and care for underground cable will be discussed.
